An automatic action is any action that shoots more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.
This means that when the trigger is engaged, a gun with an automatic action performs its cycle of operation continuously until either it depletes its ammunition supply, the trigger is released, or a pre-determined number of shots is fired (i.e. three round burst).
